ITERATIONS 001 – PDF Weaving Pattern

$10.00

ITERATIONS is a new type of weaving pattern that provides detailed pattern, making, and material information without project-specific instruction. That means you’ll find raw data like yarn, colour, sett, and shrinkage, but not towel or blanket instructions in this PDF. It’s halfway between an old weaving draft and a modern weaving project: more information than a book, but with lots of room to flex your creative muscles.

In ITERATIONS 001 you’ll find six variations on a theme: 22/2 or 8/2 cottolin + 3/2 Beam Organic Cotton. Each sample has its own page that includes the standard threading, tie-up, and treadling information, but also provides detailed information on warp and weft materials and colours, shrinkage, sett and beat, as well as warping and weaving tips and notes. All of the information you need to adapt and expand the samples into a project of your own is provided, including my thoughts on the hand (how the cloth feels) and what sorts of projects I might use it for.

Description

Each iteration has its own pattern page complete with technical details and personal observations. For newer weavers who don’t have experience or confidence expanding this type of information into a project, the last two page of the PDF explains the basic calculations and steps you’ll need to take to expand these patterns into the project of your dreams. It’s not hard!

  • Minimum Equipment: 4 harness loom, 10 dent reed, 1-2 shuttles, 2-4 bobbins
  • Warp and weft requirements: Varied amounts of 8/2 Maurice Brassard Cottolin, 22/2 Bockens Nialin, 22/2 Venne Cottolin, and 3/2 Beam Organic Cotton.

This PDF download is 16 pages long and includes colour images outlining each pattern. Each iteration can be printed as a single double-sided sheet, so you can print which patterns you wish to use.

Materials for this pattern are available in Canada from Gather Textiles, Irene Textile, Tisse et File, and LoomLust.

Please note that you are not purchasing a finished item but a pattern to design and make your own!
